Probably my biggest project on the web at the moment, I have since May 2009 been writing (with a general hiatus extending from November 2009) a ‘Game Diary’ or ‘AAR’ (After

Action Report) called Charles Dickens, Football Manager, based around an absurd and subversive interpretation of that character- but this time he isn’t writing such novels as Great Expectations or Oliver Twist, he’s writing about his times managing Accrington Stanley, through the football sim ‘Football Manager 2006′.

An absurd, exceptionally sweary (just like real football) trip through the beautiful game, in his first season he battles for promotion to the football league itself, and then on carries on his odyssey into the so-far unfinished second season.
The blog is hosted on sekritforum’s ‘Blue Casket’ site, featuring just some of the other game diaries built by the community which have been converted to wordpress format; I urge you to visit both

The site Charles Dickens, Football Manager, contains creative and strong language, which is intended primarily to entertain, also subvert, and to provide character. Readers demanded more of it, and I enjoyed writing it, so if you don’t ‘get it’, suck my balls.

Charles Dickens, Football Manager has been featured on superb freelance games journalism site Rock Paper Shotgun’s Sunday Papers feature, and by Playwrite, an independent gaming blog, and has had mentions in other places I can’t get to so easily through wordpress’ bad referral system.
